The 16th edition of the Eko New Yam Festival, organized by Castledown Arts Center, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos, was a resounding success, filling the Arena of the ABAT CBD Market, Elesekan, near Area J Police Headquarters, along the Lekki-Epe Expressway, with vibrant celebrations. The event, which commenced on Friday, September 27th, 2024, coinciding with World Tourism Day, featured an Art exhibition. The grand celebration followed on Saturday, September 28th.
Ozo Chiedu Idezuna, also known as Ezemmuo Afrika, the convener of the Eko New Yam Festival, expressed his gratitude, acknowledging that despite the prevailing economic challenges in the country, the great festival remained a significant occasion for the community. He emphasized the importance of celebrating the New Yam, stating, “To God be the glory, the New Yam must be celebrated.”
The event witnessed the presence of notable personalities from the Igbo community in Ibeju-Lekki, alongside other distinguished guests.

Prayers were offered, and the ceremonial cutting of the New Yam was conducted by Ezemmuo himself. The festivities continued with a special donation drive to support the Castledown Arts Center, marking the celebration as both a cultural and glorious success.
